Layoffs Continue Across Big Tech and Gaming

Several major organizations have announced significant workforce reductions in just the past week:

• Block, Inc. (formerly Square) is laying off 931 employees — about 8% of its workforce — in an effort to refocus and streamline operations.

• Dell Technologies has confirmed a massive cut of 12,000 jobs globally (10% of its workforce) while simultaneously enforcing a strict in-office policy.

• Niantic, known for Pokémon Go, is letting go of 68 employees in San Francisco amid a sale of its games division.

• AppLovin is also shedding 97 positions in Palo Alto, signaling continued volatility in the mobile gaming and adtech sector.

These layoffs reflect more than just financial tightening — they’re part of a broader shift toward leaner, performance-focused operations in the tech world.

RTO Mandates aren’t slowing down:

• Minnesota state employees are now required to return to the office for at least half of their scheduled workdays starting June 1.  This new directive from Governor Tim Walz is being met by heavy opposition from the unions.
