Question: Which invention was first marketed as the "Radarange?"
Answer: The Microwave!
In 1947, Raytheon built the "Radarange", the first commercially available microwave oven. It was was massive, nearly six feet tall, weighed over 750 pounds, and cost around $5,000 (equivalent to over $50,000 today)!
It wasn't until 1967 that they introduced the first compact microwave oven for home use, the countertop "Radarange," at a more affordable price of $495.
