Time for a little tech trivia!
Question: What animal is actually featured in the Mozilla Firefox logo?
Answer: A red panda (not a fox!)
Despite the name “Firefox” and the fox-like appearance, the animal in the Mozilla Firefox logo is actually a red panda—also known as a "fire fox." When Mozilla was naming the browser, they wanted something unique and landed on the nickname for the red panda.
Over time, most people just assumed it was a stylized fox due to the bushy tail and clever branding. Mozilla leaned into the confusion, but if you look at it literally, the browser’s mascot is a red panda wrapping itself around the globe—symbolizing speed, openness, and global reach.
Bonus nerd fact: Mozilla even adopted a real red panda at the Knoxville Zoo in 2010 to raise awareness!
Why "Dooley?"
Inspired by the founder's alma mater - Emory University's spirit mascot, Dooley represents the voice of the student body. And when Dooley shows up to your class, you can count on a fun time and the rest of the day off!
